An Auspicious start
Shri PP Sinha Dy Director VSSC inaugurates
the installation activities
of the higher capacity 6.5 Tons Vacuum Induction Melting Furnace.

Midhani in its endeavour to to meet the growing demands of the company has been Upgrading and Procuring many New and higher capacity equipment . In this build up of equipment many of our customers have been participating by funding for some of the equipment. One such exercise is the procurement of the new 6.5 Tons VIM furnace procured from the world famous manufacturers M/S CONSARC Engg UK. Inspite of the initial glitches the equipment has been delivered in full. A new Shop "Melt Shop III" has been specifically constructed for the equipment. The actual installation activity has been inaugurated by none other than Shri Dr P.P.Sinha Deputy Director of VSSC accompanied by our Chairman and Managing Director Shri M.Narayana Rao, Shri K Ramesh Director (Production and Marketing) along with a host of other dignitaries such as Director (DMRL) , Project Director (DRDL) Regional Director (RCMA) , CRI (DGAQA) and others. The simple traditional function was organised invoking the gods and placing the first of the furnace beds in position. |

By addition of the new 6.5 Tons VIM furnace Midhani will not only able to meet the demands of various superalloys requiremnts of many of its customers but also speed up the deliveries. Speaking on the occasion Shri PP Sinha commented on the excellent quality of the material from Midhani and wished that with the addition of the new 6.5 Ton VIM furnace Midhani should be able to compete with global leaders . |

Midhani participated in the 5 day long INTERNATIONAL AEROSPACE EXHIBITION and CONFERENCES - ILA 2008 also known as BERLIN AIR SHOW at the Berlin-Schonefeld Airport. In this show Indian participation was as 'India as a Partner Country' for the first time in the 99 year old history of the event. The event was declared open by the German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel in the presence of Shri AK Antony India's Defence Minister. India was represented by HAL, BEML, BDL, BEL. MIDHANI, OFB, DRDO, ISRO and other private defence Industries. |

During the Show officials from International Aeronautical organisations like BOEING, SAAB, VSMPO, MTV, CORUS, LOCKHEED MARTIN visited Midhani' stall and had fruitful discussions to source various materials from Midhani for their projects. Midhani's stall was managed by Shri AK Bhatia General Manager and Shri P Babu Manager ( Mrktg). |

Midhani has proved once again that its quality management is always at its best at all times. "BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARDS " the certifying agency for Quality Management Systems has renewed the
IS/ISO 9001:2000
the right and licence to be listed in the Bureau register(s) of Licencees of Quality Management Systems Certification in respect of the products and processes in Midhani.
This percolates to extensive and strong quality on each and every product Midhani Supplies to its customers. |
Midhani remembers Babu Jagjeevan Ram

It was exactly 30 years ago to this day (30th April 1978) that Shri Babu Jagjeevan Ram who was then the Defence Minister of India had visited Midhani on a personal request of the then Managing Director Shri RV Thamankar to inaugurate the Powder Metallurgy shop. A young and budding engineer Shri K Ramesh took him around the shop to explain the highlights of the shop. The same engineer is now the Director (Production and Marketing) who had the wonderful oppurtunity of unveiling the statue placed in the sprawling grounds of Midhani. |

Speaking at a function held in front of the statue on 30th April 2008 Shri K Ramesh spoke eloquently about the nostalgic memories of his brief assosiation with Shri Babu Jagjeevan Ram. Shri P Ravi CVO spoke about how Shri Babu Jagjeevan Ram had helped the poor and the downtrodden backward classes of India. Speaking at the same occasion Shri M Narayana Rao CMD Midhani conveyed that all Midhanians should come forward to fullfil the dreams of such great people in making India proud in having total self sufficiency in all Metals and Alloys. He also conveyed that it is for us(midhanians) to capitalise on the blessings of such great persons as Shri Babu Jagjeevan Ram. |
27th T O L I C meeting conducted at Midhani

The 27th Half yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee was held at the Midhani Auditorium on 29th April 2008. The meeting was attended by the OLIC from various Undertakings located in and around Hyderabad and Secunderabad. |

| The meeting was attended by more than 100 officials from about 30 organisations representing various PSUs both State and Central. Major General Rajaneesh Gossain , CMD Bharat Dynamics Limited who is super annuating on 30th April 2008 was honoured with a shawl at this occasion. Shri Vishvanath Jha , Deputy Director (Implementation) also inspected the implementation of Hindi at Midhani and was satisfied with the various practices being followed. |

DEFENCE SERVICES ASIA EXHIBITION
AT KAULALAMPUR (INDONESIA)

The 11th Defence Services Asia (DSA-2008) exhibition and conference was conducted in Kaulalampur, Malaysia at the Putra World Trade Center from 21st April to 24th April 2008. The Indian Government was reppresented by the major establishments of Defence services like DRDO, HAL, BEL, BEML, OFB, Goa shipyard, Mazagon dockyard, GRSE and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited. 33 countries from all over the world have participated in the exhibition which had a total of more than 300 stalls. Midhani participated in the exhibition to showcase its products, capabilities and for exploring newer export markets and for business promotion. |

Several Dignitaries had visited Midhani Stall including High Commissioner of India at Malaysia , Malaysian Defence Minister, Singapore Army chief , German Army Chief and others. |
MIDHANI REPEATS ITS PERFORMANCE

In an encore of our previous performance of the last few years Midhani has once again excelled its performance for the year 2007-08 by an all time high achievments of Sales Turnover of Rs 255 Crore, Value of Production of (about) Rs. 287.5 Crore, Order Book of Rs 700 Crore and an estimated Profit of After Tax of About Rs 27 Crore.
Shri M Narayan Rao Chairman and Managing Director said that this overall performance during the year 2007-08 would certainly bring laurels to the company by way of getting a MoU rating of "EXCELLENT" for the fifth year in succession and the company would be paying dividend to the Government of India once again.

The year has seen modernisation and upgradation of a variety of Production and Quality Assurance Equipment and meriting Type approvals for four Aeronautical grades. The kudos to the company include eminent prizes from IIM and product development of five new products.
In an ongoing efforts to achieve “Total Customer Satisfaction“ Midhani wishes to dedicate the year 2008-09 as " Year of Customer Satisfaction and Customer Delight ".
Midhani also reiterates its commitment to achieve the status of " Centre of Excellence " among the global players and be a proud asset to the country.
