100th International Womens Day
celebrated in Midhani

The 100th 'Womens Day' and the last of the decade was celebrated in Midhani with great frevour. All the women employees, Officers, executives and Management trainees joined together and had a meeting at the mini Auditorium.
The Chief guest to the function was Shri M Narayana Rao , Chairman and Managing Director. Shri VS Krishnamurthy Director (Finance) and Shri P Ravi IPS CVO graced the occasions. |
Shri M Narayana Rao had informed the gathering that an all women 'Fasteners' department is being launched shortly. A power point presentation of this department has been made by Dr.Smt Subhangi Karindikar along with management trainees.

The meeting ended with cultural programs including a skit 'Prisha- Gods greatest gift' and a dance by the management trainees. Later several indoor games were conducted in which all women participated with great enthusiasm. |

Partnering for National Growth
Customer Meet
The 6th Customer Meet was conducted at Midhani on 9.2.10 exclusively for private industry customers. The customers have reposed confidence in Midhani and urged for continuous material support.
Shri PK Mallick, VP, Avery India told about the long association they had with Midhani for special materials which could not be imported and how Midhani supplied them at such a crucial time.
Shri PR Bhimal Khedkar, VP, Walchandnagar Industries Limited, explained the dependence they have on Midhani for special metals and alloys and congratulated Midhanis efforts in this field.
Shri M Narayana Rao C&MD explained in detail the modernization and expansion programme of MIDHANI and the efforts being made to meet the customers delivery schedules.
Shri VS Kirishnamurthy, Director Finance spoke about the ambitious programmes of Midhani regarding doubling up the Production capacity in the next 2 years and tripling it in the next 4 years and the enormous investments being made to achieve these objectives.
Shri VS Verma Director (P&M) stressed the importance of having such an exclusive and focused Customer meet with private sector to enable one to one interactions and fruitful discussions while welcoming our Customer partners.
The programme was well attended with more than 25 leading companies participating in the day’s event which concluded with a musical extravaganza. |

Midhani employees donate to CM's Relief Fund |

As a humanitarian gesture, the employees of Midhani have donated an amount of Rs 10,49,137 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. The Chairman and Managing Director of the Company Shri M Narayana Rao, along with Director Finance Shri V S Krishnamurthy handed over the cheque to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri K Rosiah on February -- 2010.
The Directors of the Company were accomapanied by Shri A Ramalingeswara Rao, President Officers Association, Shri N Sai Prasad, President, Midhani Executives Assosiation and Shri D Narayana Rao, President, Midhani Employees Union.

Shri T K Chandrasekhar, General Manager (Services) and Shri Anand Kumar, Senior Manager, Personnel Services were also present.
The Employees ,Jr Executives and the officers jointly have raised the amount which is equalant to one days wages.
The Hon'ble Chief Minister lauded the commitment of Midhani employees to the social cause and said that
such contribution will go a long way in mitigating the needs of the people of the State in times of distress.

Midhani's Vendor Meet 2010

A Vendor Meet was organized at Midhani on 8.1.2010. This is an annual event which serves as a platform for Midhani as well as our esteemed vendors for sharing of ideas and future plans enabling building up of a strong relationship for the future. Representatives from 61 companies based in India and abroad have participated in the Vendor Meet. The Chief Guests for the Vendor Meet were Mr SS Mohanty, Executive Director (Projects), Bhilai Steel Plant; Mr Nandan Mehta, Managing Director, Bay Forge Limited, Chennai; and Mr C Rama Gopal, General Manager,MMTC, Hyderabad. The details of the augmentation of the facilities at Midhani as well as future plans were presented to the participants and the areas in which Midhani had requirements for outsourcing was also informed to the invitees followed by an interactive session. |

MIDHANI observes "Vigilance Awareness week"

Midhani observed the VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK FROM 3rd Nov 2009 to 7th Nov 2009. The week long celebrations commenced with the inauguration by Shri M Narayan Rao Chairman & Managing Director in the presence of Shri V S Krishnamurthy Director Finance , Shri VS Verma Director (Prodn & Mktg) Midhani. The CVO Shri P Ravi IPS administered the pledge.
The need to for vigilance and systematic approach is essential for procuring better quality materials at reasonable prices stressed Shri P Ravi (CVO)in his speech. And to achieve, this he said that, officers should shed away the casual appraoch in procurement.
During the week long celebrations various eminent speakers were invited for delivering talks on various aspects of vigilance in execution of job. Shri BK Mahapatro ex-Addl GM (Vigilance) BHEL talked about systems approach, Shri SN Mohanty Sr Manager (Vigilance) HAL spoke on Preventive Vigilance, Dr A Ravishanker IPS , Addl Director Anti Corruption Bureau spoke about Disproportionate Assets and gave various case studies of his experience. Ms Anjana Sinha IPS, IG APSPF enlightened the audience on "Security in Sensitive Organisations". All the lectures were well attended and the audience took keen interest in interacting with the speakers.
Interactive sessions were held on the shop floor wherein several points raised by employees were addressed and as result of which several improvements and suggetions have come up including the formation of "Material Procurement Committee". The vigilance department conducted essay writing competition . The winners of the competition were awarded prizes by Ms Anjana Sinha IPS and Shri M Narayana Rao CMD Midhani.

| Midhani conducted its 6th Customer meet on 9th October 2009 in the Midhani Auditorium. 90 delegates representing ISRO, OFB, BARC, Atomic Energy, DRDO, Navy, HAL, Bhavini, NPCIL, BHEL, BDL, NFC etc. attended the full day meeting. The meeting started with the traditional lighting of the lamp and with prayers . The inaugural speakers were Shri R.N.Jayaraj from NFC,DR Avinash Chander from ASL and Shri K Sreekumar from VSSC. |

The Atomic Energy scenario is witnessing a sea-change with Government of India seeking Nuclear sources for Power generation in the Country and by 2050 it will be getting into Breeder Reactor arena to bridge the shortage of power in the Country. This requires very special materials which can meet the stringent properties for critical applications in Reactors and Steam Generators and Midhani is the sole indigenous source, said Shri R N Jayaraj, Outstanding Scientist & Chief Executive, Nuclear Fuel Complex, Hyderabad while delivering the inauguralmessage during the 6th Customer Meet held at MIDHANI today. |
In India, the recent trends have been to indigenise manufacturing of material and Defence equipment rather than importing said Dr Avinash Chander, Director, Advanced Systems Laboratory, Hyderabad during the inaugural address. He urged that material suppliers including Midhani should switch over their psyche from development mode to delivering mode since users look for immediate solutions. |

Shri K Sreekumar, Group Director, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Trivandrum detailed the huge requirements of exotic alloys and value added products for meeting the future programmes of Indian Space Research Organistion. While speaking on the occassion, Shri Sreekumar recalled the ISRO's association with Midhani since 1980s and the process of development of special materials. |
The Customer Meet henceforth should be called as "Partners Meet" since Midhani and its customers are all 'Partnering for National Growth' in their respective strategic sectors for the industrial, technological and economic development of the Country said Shri M Narayana Rao, Chairman& Managing Director, MIDHANI, Hyderabad while addressing the Customer-Partners present on the occasion.The unprecedented boost being given to various strategic programmes of National importance in the country in the recent past has a tremendous bearing on Midhani for supply of strategic materials. Vigilance Study Circle, a non-profit non-Government Organisation of Vigilance Professionals of Hyderabad based PSUs celebrated its Sixth Anniversary on 10.8.2009 at Jubilee Hall, which was attended by Central Vigilance Commissioner Shri Pratyush Sinha , Vigilance Commissioner Shri Sudhir Kumar, Chief Executives and CVOs of various PSUs, Banks and other organizations, and eminent vigilance professionals from all over India. Sri P Ravi IPS , Chief Vigilance Officer Midhani ,and Midhani Vigilance Team have taken an active role in organizing the above function. Midhani had taken up the order of Special Steenless Plates of 4 to 18 mm thick ,1250 mm wide and 6000 mm long from Bhavini, Kalpakkam of the DAE sector. The normal manufacturing cycle was in itself almost 12 months. But the customer was in dire need and wanted the material in the shortest period of time. Midhani took up the challenge order on March 31, 2009. It was really a daunting task for the production to meet the demanding and stringent quality checks. Midhani had again surpassed the 'impossible' making it possible and completed sending the last consignment on August 11th 2009.

| VIM FURNACE DEDICATED FOR NATIONAL MISSION |
Padma Bhushan Dr G.Madhavan Nair Chairman ISRO and Secretary ,Department of Space has honoured Midhani with his presence on 30th July 2009. He inaugurated and dedicated to the Nation the newly commissioned 6.5 tons VIM furnace for programs of National importance and witnessed the melting operations. During his visit Dr Nair reviewed the status of Midhani's supplies for the space programme. Later Dr Nair met and interacted with the young engineers introduced by Shri M Narayana Rao Chairman and Managing Director Midhani. Dr Nair was accompanied by Shri PP Sinha Dy Director ISRO. |

Midhani posts an impressive Sales figure of Rs 306 Crore (Provisional)
for the year ending March 2009 |
Midhani has achieved an "Excellentt" MOU rating from Dept of Def Production (Ministry of Defence) for the sixth consecutive year. Midhani has achieved a Sales Turnover of Rs 306 Crore during the financial year surpasssing all previous years' records. The Order book as on 1st April indicates an impressive figure of Rs 700 crore.
During the financial year 2008-09 Midhani continues to support Space program (VSSC) for its Chandrayaan I, PSLV and GSLV programs with critical meterials of Titanium Alloys,Nickel base and Cobalt based Superalloys in various Mill forms. Supporting the DAE with critical alloys was also a part the years sales. Using extreme engineering ideas the VAR furnace produced 2011 tonnes of materials. Support to the Defence sector continued along with the co-operation of DMRL.

Midhani was conferred with "Mini-RATNA" Category - I status during the year. Accolades in the form of Raksha Mantri's Award, and Metallurgist of the year Award were conferred to Midhanians.
Midhain earned a Gross margin of Rs 63 Crore and an estimated Profit before Tax of Rs 60 crore for the financial year ending March 31,2009 thus surpassing all the previous years records.

Midhani is proud to have one of its own officer, Shri Vijay Shanker Verma working in the rank of General Manager (Marketing and External Resourcing) take over charge as Director (Production and Marketing) from April Ist 2009. His predecessor Shri K Ramesh laid down office on 31st March 2009 after his superannuation.
Having started his career in BARC Anushaktinagar ,Mumbai He completed his training course for Scientist C. However he opted to join Bhilai steel plant in 1973 where he mastered the skills in Rolling mills. He joined Midhani as Dy Manager incharge of Hot rolling mills in 1983. He imparted his skills and built up the HRM up to 1999. |

Later in 1999 he took charge of the onerous activity of building up external infrastructure (External Resourcing) keeping in view of the enormous potential and growth of Midhani in later years. In 2008 he took charge as General manager (Marketing & External resourcing)
Shri V S Verma gets with him a vast amount of energy and knowledge to the fore. Shri VS Verma a topper in the Metallurgy branch of Ranchi University having Passed in First Class distinction in B.Sc.Engg(Metallurgy) from Bihar Institute of Technology , Sindri in 1972. He has received Prof B Chakravarthy Silver medal having come second in India when he completed his Grad IIIE from Indian Institute of Engineering Mumbai in 1982. Adding to his education he completed his Post graduate in IE & Mgmt in the year 1987.
Shri VS Verma is a very calm going person of likable character who has travelled all over India and many places abroad both in the course of his profession and his personal life. He has toured Europe and East Asia. Shri VS Verma is presently a widower and two married sons placed very well in the software profession and working in US.
